Our home

Here are a few photos of our home together, with a few of those early wedding gifts proudly displayed. Thank you so much for your generosity :)

Our first wrapped gift! From Ben's big sis, Samantha.

Our first major purchase together when I moved in last summer were 3 bookshelves, this is one of them. Can you tell we love to read??

Our cozy living room.

More bookshelves and our new mixer and food processor!

We are ready for a tea service at a moment's notice!

In the midst of those wedding plans.

Surprise!

I work at a small performing arts non-profit and we love parties and food. So any excuse to celebrate a staff member with a mid-afternoon sugar rush is a welcome break from working. Usually this comes in the form of group birthday celebrations, but occasionally someone has a big anniversary with the company, is having a baby or getting married. So in honor of the whole "Karen & Ben's Wedding Spectacular" my fabulous cohort, office mate and work bestie planned a surprise shower for me. I was so honored, flattered and truly surprised! Tyler baked cupcakes, whipped up homemade frosting and put together a beautiful spread that was nothing short of a sugar rush! He knows my love for cupcake sandwiches (frost cupcake, pull off the bottom and smoosh it on top of the frosting, thus creating a sandwich and guaranteeing frosting in every bite), so it was an appropriate treat!

Here are a few photos from the party!

My face when I walked into the conference room and figured out there was not a telemarketing emergency. (I was so easily tricked!)

Demonstrating the aforementioned cupcake sandwich.

Proudly showing off the awesome food processor my coworkers pitched in to get us! They are so generous. I can't wait to process all that food!

Tyler and I.

Me, Tyler and Julie enjoying the leftover frosting the next day. We didn't cupcakes, just our fingers! Don't worry, we actually get work done most of the time.

You asked, we listened

More photos you say? Here are a few from my brother, Steve's graduation festivities! He recently graduated from Purdue University in Indiana, which Ben and I attended with my parents. Then Steve had a fabulous graduation party at Ken's Steak House in Natick. We had a great time celebrating Steve and his many accomplishments!

With the graduate!

No photo essay related to Steve would be complete with a picture of the car he built!

With the graduate and my dad!

Isn't he so handsome?!

Get ready to see these awesome dance moves on July 10th!

We did not manage to get a picture together at Steve's party, but here's one of me with my wonderful parents :) They throw all the best parties!

Getting closer...

This was a big week for us in making strides closer to the wedding day. On the heels of finalizing our menu at the Aegean with my family, we applied for our marriage license at the Brookline town hall on Tuesday. If you've ever seen "Monsters, Inc." and remember the character, Roz, you can get a pretty clear picture of the folks we encountered at Town Hall. They are royally underwhelmed by life!

Yesterday we met with my wonderful aunt Sue, who is performing our wedding ceremony! She helped us finalize all the details. This is Sue (so you'll recognize her on the big day!)

Also, Ben picked up our wedding rings. We were supposed to pick up the rings on Friday night, but on his way over to my office, Ben ran into our designer who was heading back out to her shop in Somerville to meet with us. She had my ring, but not Ben's, so they both came up to my office and I got to look at my ring, but we agreed Ben would go to the shop on Saturday to pay and pick up both rings in a fancy box. We are so pleased with how the rings turned out! I particularly wanted a band that would work well with the beautiful antique passed down through Ben's family. Our designer worked with us to create a perfect fit. Jade Moran designed our rings and if you want to check out some her amazing jewelry, visit her website (http://www.jademoran.com/)

This week we're finalizing a few more details and, you know, going to work and such :)
